Aaron Scholl Comedy
my story:
Hey! What's Up, Guys?
Is this where I tell you that as a 14-year-old, I’d stay home on Friday nights just to watch Comedy Central Presents? That’s where I first fell in love with stand-up comedy and discovered some of my favorite comedians, like Demetri Martin and Dane Cook. It was a little weird, I’ll admit. I vividly remember one of those nights where I had this moment, seeing myself on stage doing stand-up and thinking, “I can do that.”
And then I proceeded to do absolutely zero stand-up comedy for the next 14 years.
In my defense, there are other kinds of comedy! I dove into improv comedy for six years, all thanks to my sister and her lovely coupon. But even then, improv was just a stepping stone—a way to get on stage and, one day, do stand-up. Finally, four years after my first improv class, I found myself performing at my first open mic in some guy's basement in Philadelphia.
And then… more radio silence. Even with a “vision” at 14, it wasn’t until the tail end of the pandemic that I finally made stand-up my thing. It was October 2021, and I haven’t looked back since. That’s nearly three years of being a stand-up comedian. And by stand-up comedian, I mean open miker. Actually, scratch that—I’m officially coming out of the closet. I am a stand-up comedian. The safety of this professional, easy-to-navigate website has allowed me to be vulnerable enough to step into my identity. Thanks, Square Space.
Enough with the origin story. I’ve been developing my comedy muscles for 10 years and now I’m ready to share what I’ve learned. Let’s work together to make your next event a hit! I’m available for:
